Since starting That Basic Girl on Feb. 24, 2023, I have constantly been brainstorming and changing the direction for TBG, which caused many stalls and delays along the process.
There were moments when I felt like I finally figured it out, which would be short-lived by the next day.
Because of the continuous disappointments and changes at the start of TBG, I did not realize how much stress I was putting my body under. But my body knew.
There were slight pains in my lower abdomen that I ignored over the years, which started to feel like they were on steroids. That pain wanted me to know it was not period cramps because I could not catch a break.
Later in March, I finally decided enough was enough and booked an appointment with a gynecologist. The results were scary, not something any woman wants to hear, and I felt like I had let myself down and failed my body. I’m still going through the rollercoaster of emotions, but I know everything will be okay because of the God I serve.
I was so focused on starting different business ventures I ignored all the warning signals my body sent over the years.
I did not listen to the one instrument at the root of my being able to achieve my financial goal, my body.
Our bodies are not machines with interchangeable parts. No matter how skillful surgeons are with plastic surgery or how rapidly science develops, we only have one body.
Discomfort and pain are how the body communicates, so if there is any pain you cannot explain why it’s there, go to the doctor.
When I speak of doctors, I am not speaking of the most reputable Dr. Google.com because he will provide a long descriptive explanation (which may include diagrams) with a simple conclusion that you’re dying.
Listen to your body and get checked.
Go to the dentist to get your cleaning, fillings, and extractions done. Go to the gynecologist to get your regular pap smear done. Stop eating the things you love (pasta) that make you feel bloated every time because your body is letting you know it’s not good for you.
Health is wealth, so take better care of your health to create the best blueprint for your health in the future.
